The building is a representation of the villa culture of aristocratic farms which developed in Nasugahara.
Aoki Shuzo (Viscount and Foreign Minister), who had been an enthusiast of German culture and had gained the nickname “Old Man German,” built a German-style villa on the premises of his farm in 1888.
It is said that when Viscount Aoki visited his villa, he went by carriage from Kuroiso Station.
